Every Model, Every Caliber.

Magnum Research was founded in 1979 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is now owned by Kahr Arms (Greeley, Pennsylvania). The Desert Eagle (1982, in collaboration with Israel Military Industries) is the world's most-recognized large-caliber semi-auto pistol — chambered in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .50 AE, and .429 DE. Magnum Research also produces the BFR single-action revolver in massive chamberings (.45-70, .500 S&W, .444 Marlin) and the Magnum Lite rimfire rifles.

Magnum Research Value FAQ

Is the Desert Eagle gas-operated?

Yes — uniquely for a pistol. The Desert Eagle uses a gas-operated rotating-bolt action similar to an AR-15, which makes shooting full-power magnum cartridges feasible. Most other large-caliber semi-autos use simple blowback or short-recoil and can't handle .50 AE pressures.

Can I convert calibers on the Desert Eagle?

Yes — the Mark XIX accepts swappable barrels and bolt assemblies for .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .50 AE conversions. .429 DE is a newer option using the same frame. Conversion kits run $400-700.

What's the BFR mean?

Officially 'Biggest Finest Revolver' — though enthusiasts insist on a different B-word. The BFR is built on a heavily oversized single-action revolver frame to handle .45-70, .500 S&W Magnum, .454 Casull, and similar magnum / rifle cartridges. Hunters' choice for stopping power; cumbersome for daily carry.

Are Desert Eagles considered collectible?

Limited-finish variants (Tigerstripe, 24K Gold, Black Tiger, Engraved Custom) are highly collected and trade at significant premiums. Standard Mark XIX Stainless or Black runs $1,900-2,400 used. Engraved/finished examples can run $4,000-8,000+.
