Frequently Asked Questions

Real answers about how GunPrices free AI valuation works, what it covers, and where it does not.

Valuations

How accurate is GunPrice? For mainstream firearms in normal condition, within 10% of actual private-sale prices about 85% of the time. For rare, collectible, custom, or famous-owner firearms, accuracy drops fast — those need a certified appraiser.

Where does your data come from? Real 2026 private-sale transaction data, dealer trade-in offers, auction hammer prices, and a proprietary condition-multiplier model trained on 10,062+ cataloged firearms. We do not rely on Blue Book values.

Is GunPrice really free? What is the catch? Free. No signup. No premium tier. We make money on the other sites in our ecosystem.

Why is my valuation different from what a local dealer offered me? Dealers offer 60–70% of resale value. Our valuations are private-sale — what a real buyer pays peer-to-peer.

Specific Guns

Why is not my Glock 19 Gen 5 in the database? It probably is — try Glock 19 and use the dropdown to pick Gen 5. If we really do not have it, email us and we will add it within a week.

NFA items? We value transferable items in normal condition. Pre-86 machine guns and items with paperwork issues need a licensed NFA appraiser.

Modified or custom firearms? We value the base firearm. For highly modified guns, list on GunShare and let the market decide.

Account & Privacy

Do I need an account? No. Search and value anonymously every time.

What does an account give me? Valuation history rolls into your private GunVault. One login works across all 5 sites.

Do you sell my data? No. We do not sell, share, or rent your search data, account data, or valuation history.
