Kahr Arms was founded in 1995 by Justin Moon in Worcester, Massachusetts (now Greeley, Pennsylvania). Kahr produces high-end concealed-carry pistols — the CW9, CM9, P9, P380, PM9, and TP9 series. The patented Kahr offset trigger and DAO action gave the brand a reputation for the best-shooting subcompact 9mms in the late-1990s through 2010s. Auto-Ordnance, Magnum Research, and Thompson are all subsidiaries of Kahr's parent company.

Why is the Kahr trigger considered so good?
Kahr's patented offset trigger system and DAO (double-action-only) striker mechanism produces an unusually smooth, consistent pull weight (~6.5 lbs) for a pocket subcompact. No reset between shots — the trigger fully resets to the same position each time. Very popular with concealed-carry shooters who don't want manual safeties or decockers.
What's the difference between CM9 and PM9?
Both are subcompact 9mm. The PM9 has a polished slide and finer fit-and-finish ($800 MSRP); the CM9 is the budget version with rougher slide finish and fewer features ($425 MSRP). Mechanically nearly identical. Same magazines.
Are Kahr pistols still competitive?
The P-Series and PM/MK lines were industry-leading in 2005-2015. Modern micro-9s (Hellcat, P365) have largely overtaken Kahr in the carry market. Kahr remains active with the CW Premium line; secondary market values are softer than during the brand's peak.
Are Kahr Tactical Series guns different?
Yes — Tactical Series (T9, TP9) have longer barrels (4"+), full-size grip frames, and night sights as standard. They're full-size duty guns rather than carry pistols. Less common on the secondary market than compact Kahrs.
