Every Model, Every Caliber.

Ithaca Gun Company was founded in 1880 in Ithaca, New York. Famous for the Model 37 (1937), a bottom-eject, bottom-load pump shotgun that became iconic for police use, hunting, and military service. Ithaca went through multiple ownership transitions; current production is based in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. The Model 37 Featherlight remains in production as the flagship; also produces the Model 600 over/under and the Hardline pump shotgun. Pre-1960 Ithaca Model 37s are collected.

Ithaca Value FAQ

What makes the Model 37 unique?

Bottom-eject design — both loading and ejection happen through the bottom of the receiver (no side ejection port). This makes the gun ambidextrous and prevents shells from ejecting toward fellow shooters in close quarters (popular for police, military, and tactical use). The action design dates to John Browning's 1915 patent.

Are pre-1965 Ithaca Model 37s collected?

Yes — original Ithaca-made (Ithaca, NY) Model 37s from the 1937-1965 era are highly collected. The Riot, Stakeout, and Trap variants from this era can run $800-2,000 in original condition. Military issue M37s (U.S. Marine Corps issue in Vietnam) trade $1,000-2,500.

Where are Ithaca shotguns made now?

Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Production restarted in 2007 after years of ownership turmoil. Current production maintains the original Model 37 design and uses American-made steel. The brand is privately owned and operates with a small-batch production focus.

Is the Featherlight different from a Pro?

Featherlight is the lighter standard configuration (just under 6 lbs in 12 gauge). Pro adds a vented rib, chrome-lined chamber and bore, and a more refined finish. MSRP $850-1,300 for Featherlight; $1,400-1,900 for Pro. Both share the same Model 37 action.
