Used Ed Brown Values 2026:
Every Model, Every Caliber.

Ed Brown Products was founded in 1968 by Ed Brown in Perry, Missouri. Originally a 1911 parts supplier (the Ed Brown sear, hammer, beavertail safety, and slide stop are industry standards used by other 1911 builders), the company began producing complete pistols in the 1990s. Ed Brown 1911s — particularly the Special Forces, Executive Carry, and Kobra Carry — are the third major U.S. semi-custom 1911 builder alongside Wilson and Nighthawk. Ed Brown also produces bolt-action rifles under the Ed Brown Custom name.

Ed Brown Value FAQ

Is Ed Brown the same as Ed Brown Products?

Yes — same company. Ed Brown Products was the original parts business; Ed Brown Custom Rifles is the bolt-action rifle division. All products ship under the Ed Brown brand. Their 1911 parts (sears, hammers, beavertail safeties, slide stops) are standard upgrades in semi-custom builds across the industry.

What's the difference between Executive and Special Forces?

Both are 5" Government 1911s. Special Forces has Ed Brown's signature checkered front strap and Snake Skin slide treatment. Executive series has smooth front strap and standard slide flats — generally considered more elegant / less aggressive looking. Same internal build quality; aesthetic preference.

Are Ed Brown Custom Rifles competitive?

Yes — Ed Brown Custom Rifles use proprietary actions hand-fitted to McMillan stocks. The Damara and Savanna are among the most-respected custom-grade hunting rifles in the $4,000-7,500 range. Damara is particularly common as a stainless 'mountain rifle' for elk / sheep hunters.

Why is the EVO different from a standard Ed Brown 1911?

The EVO series uses billet-machined frames (vs forged on standard Ed Browns) and has a more aggressive grip texture and modern stippling. Designed as a more carry-optimized variant. EVO KC9 in 9mm is the most popular configuration.
