Cooper Firearms Value FAQ

Is the 0.5 MOA accuracy guarantee real?

Yes — Cooper guarantees 0.5 MOA at 100 yards with handloaded ammunition (sometimes broader with factory ammo). Each rifle ships with an actual 3-shot group target signed by the testing technician. Rifles that don't meet spec are reworked before shipment.

Why are Cooper rifles so expensive?

Each rifle is hand-built by a single rifle-maker, hand-fitted action to receiver, hand-bedded stock, individually-lapped barrel, and quality control inspection at each stage. AAA-grade walnut is selected by hand. Production capacity is roughly 2,000 rifles per year company-wide. MSRP runs $2,500-7,500.

What's the difference between Western Classic and Classic?

Western Classic adds figured walnut stock with cheekpiece, jeweled bolt, and engraved bottom metal. Classic is the entry-level configuration with standard-grade walnut. Both share the same Cooper action and accuracy guarantee.

Are pre-2018 (pre-acquisition) Cooper rifles different?

Cooper went through a brief ownership transition in 2018 that triggered some quality concerns. Production has stabilized; current Cooper rifles maintain the original company's specifications. Pre-2018 production is generally preferred for collector value but post-2018 rifles are mechanically equivalent.
