Cimarron Firearms Value FAQ

Are Cimarron replicas authentic enough for collectors?

Cimarron sells production replicas — they're not antique originals. For SASS (Single Action Shooting Society) cowboy action competition, Cimarron is one of the most-used brands. Collectors who want true antique value should look at original Colt SAAs ($3,000-100,000+) or original Henry / 1873 Winchester rifles.

Who manufactures Cimarron firearms?

Italian companies — primarily Uberti (most lever-actions and SAAs) and Pietta (cap & ball revolvers and some SAAs). Cimarron does the importing, distribution, and U.S.-specific finish work in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Are John Wayne commemorative editions collectible?

Among Cimarron buyers and Western movie fans — yes. The John Wayne Single Action and the True Grit Rooster Cogburn series command small premiums over standard production. Run $700-1,200 MSRP.

What's the difference between Cimarron and Taylor's?

Both import Italian Old West replicas. Taylor's & Company is a separate U.S. distributor (Winchester, VA) with similar product line. Cimarron has the John Wayne / Wyatt Earp / Doc Holliday licensing; Taylor's has different licensed limited editions. Quality of imports is similar.
