Every Model, Every Caliber.

Big Horn Armory was founded in 2007 in Cody, Wyoming. The company specializes in big-bore lever-action rifles built around the Marlin 1894 action — primarily .500 S&W Magnum, .460 S&W, and .454 Casull chamberings. Designed for dangerous-game hunting (brown bear, moose, elk) and as the ultimate brush gun. The Model 89, 90, 92, and AR500 are core platforms. Production is small (~1,500 rifles per year).

Big Horn Armory Value FAQ

Why is .500 S&W in a lever-action significant?

The .500 S&W Magnum is the largest commercial revolver cartridge ever produced — Big Horn put it in a lever-action for the ultimate brush gun stopping power. A 16" lever gun in .500 S&W is the most-powerful tube-magazine lever rifle ever produced. Popular for guide work in Alaska and Canada for brown bear country.

What is .500 Auto Max?

Big Horn Armory's proprietary cartridge designed for the AR500 platform — straight-walled .50-caliber rifle cartridge in an AR-15-sized rifle. Ballistically similar to .500 S&W from a rifle barrel but designed to function in autoloading actions. Niche but interesting.

Is the Model 89 a Marlin 1894?

Mechanically derived from the Marlin 1894 action, scaled up to handle the massive cartridges. Built in Cody, Wyoming on entirely Big Horn Armory hardware (not Marlin parts). The action design is similar but the dimensions are unique to Big Horn.

What's the price range for Big Horn rifles?

Model 89 standard runs $1,600-2,200 MSRP. Model 92 in pistol calibers runs $1,300-1,800. Custom engraved variants $2,500-5,000. AR500 platform $2,000-2,800. Production capacity is small — orders sometimes require 6-12 month wait.
