Every Model, Every Caliber.
Armalite was founded in 1954 by George Sullivan in Hollywood, California. The original ArmaLite developed the AR-10 (1955) and AR-15 (1956) — the latter became the M16 after Colt acquired the design in 1959. The modern Armalite Inc. (1995-) in Geneseo, Illinois produces AR-10 and AR-15 platforms in a range of configurations, plus the AR-50 .50 BMG single-shot bolt-action.

Armalite Value FAQ
Is the modern Armalite the same as the original?
No — the original ArmaLite was a division of Fairchild Aircraft (1954-1983) that licensed the AR-15 to Colt in 1959. The modern Armalite Inc. (1995-present) is a separate company that acquired the trademark rights and currently produces AR rifles. Original 1950s-60s ArmaLite-produced rifles are extremely rare.
What's the SuperSASS?
Armalite's Semi-Automatic Sniper System — the AR-10 configured with a 20" match barrel, JP Enterprises trigger, and Magpul stock. Designed for military and police sniper applications. Premium-tier production with appropriate pricing.
Are AR-50s practical?
For most users, no — they're 30+ lb single-shot rifles designed for long-range precision (1,000+ yards) and recreational shooting. Civilian .50 BMG ammunition is $5-10 per round. Owners are typically dedicated long-range shooters or collectors.
