Anschutz Value FAQ

Why are Anschutz rifles so expensive?

Anschutz match rifles are hand-fitted with action-bedding tolerances of microns, single-stage triggers adjustable down to 50 grams, and barrels lapped to better than 1 MOA at 50 meters. Match-grade Olympic rifles like the 1913 Super Match run $4,500-9,000. Sporters (1416, 1710) are $1,400-2,500.

What's the Fortner action?

Anschutz's straight-pull biathlon action — patented by Peter Fortner. Allows extremely fast cycling between shots without breaking position. Standard on the 1827 BT and used in nearly all professional biathlon competition. The action is also applied to some hunting variants (1781, 1782).

Are Anschutz rimfires worth the premium for plinking?

For casual shooting — no, a Ruger 10/22 is plenty. For serious target shooting at 50-100 yards or for ISSF / smallbore competition — Anschutz is the standard. The 64 sporter and 1416 series are entry-level Anschutz at $700-1,200.

Where do I find Anschutz parts in the U.S.?
