Accuracy International Value FAQ

Why are AI rifles so expensive?

Each AI rifle is hand-built in the UK with aerospace-grade aluminum chassis, hand-fitted bolts, and individual zero verification. Production capacity is small (~1,000-2,000 rifles per year company-wide). MSRP runs $7,000-15,000 for civilian variants. Government contract pricing is similar after support packages.

Is the AT a real sniper rifle or just a hunting rifle?

Real — the AT (Accuracy Tactical) is the latest civilian-and-LE descendant of the L96A1. Used by police snipers in the UK and EU, and by U.S. PRS / NRL competitors. Mechanically identical action to the AW series with refined ergonomics.

Was the L115A3 used in the famous British 2,475-meter shot?

Yes — Corporal Craig Harrison of the British Army made a verified 2,475-meter (1.54 mile) kill shot in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2009 using a L115A3 chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum. Currently the longest verified combat sniper kill on record. The L115A3 was the AWM with British military designations.

Are AI rifles available to civilians in the U.S.?

Yes, but exclusively through Mile High Shooting (Lakewood, Colorado) — AI's exclusive U.S. distributor. Purchase requires standard FFL transfer; demand exceeds supply. AT and AX civilian rifles run $7,500-12,000.
