About the Colt 1911 Government Series 70
The Series 70 is the 1911 reference design — no firing-pin block, no Schwartz safety, just John Browning's original architecture as Colt builds it today. Reintroduced in 2002 after a long Series 80 era, the new Series 70 production combines modern CNC tolerances with the trigger feel that made the original platform famous.
Why the Colt 1911 Government Series 70 Is Valued
Series 70 1911s have a dedicated competitive-shooting following because the absence of the firing-pin block produces a notably better trigger pull. Colt resale is strong across the entire 1911 spectrum.
What Affects This Gun's Value
Stainless adds $50–100 over blued. Wiley Clapp editions add $200–350. Combat Commander and Officer's variants are at par. Original-condition pre-1985 (true Series 70) examples sell $300–500 above 2002+ reintroductions.
