The Human Element

Jerry Miculek — The Fastest Human Shooter

World Record: 8 Shots + Reload in 2.99 SecondsJerry Miculek’s 1999 world record with a S&W revolver — 8 shots, reload, 8 more shots on two targets — remains one of the most impressive shooting feats in history. The limiting factor was human, not mechanical.

The Benelli AdvantageThe Benelli M4’s ARGO (Auto-Regulating Gas-Operated) system cycles so fast that it’s outpaced some shooters’ trigger fingers. The US Marines selected it specifically because it cycles any load without adjustment — speed and reliability combined.

FAQs

Speed FAQs

What is the fastest semi-automatic pistol?

All semi-auto pistols cycle similarly fast mechanically — the limiting factor is the shooter. A Glock G17 can theoretically cycle 600+ rounds per minute, but no human can pull the trigger that fast. Practically, trained shooters achieve 6–8 aimed shots per second.

Is the Beretta A400 really faster than the Benelli?

The Beretta A400’s FAST action cycles measurably faster in independent timing tests — approximately 36% faster than most competitors. The Benelli M4 is close behind and more reliable across load types.
